Charlie Quezada (b. 1986 Santo Domingo)

My work has focused on the study of the landscape seen through limits, understanding the historical propensity of humankind to contain nature at its convenience. My interest in these subjects arises from the everyday interaction between nature and architecture, as well as the appropriation of natural spaces that result in interference of the Caribbean landscape. I have also been interested in analyzing how industrial materials and resources refer to an artificial nature to recreate dystopian spaces and in this way think about the tropical imaginary. My work highlight feelings of alienation within a context that is familiar to me, which in turn shows the tension between two elements: the spaces we create and those assigned to us at birth, both equally necessary for the constitution of identity and artistic production.
